Most sapphires aren't from here. And most have been heated.

This one is neither. Montana sapphire is one of the only commercially mined precious gemstones native to the United States, sourced from the alluvial deposits of the Missouri River watershed. The color — a teal-blue-green that doesn't exist in quite this form anywhere else on earth — comes from specific iron and titanium trace element ratios interacting inside corundum's hexagonal crystal lattice.

Unheated means the vast majority of commercial sapphires undergo 1800°C heat treatment to improve color. This stone has not. The color you see is the color it formed with. At 2.65 carats, this is the flagship stone in the Montana collection — substantial, saturated, and entirely natural.

Diamond shoulder salt and pepper, white, or champagne accent available: +$200 yellow/rose/green gold — two bezel-set accent diamonds, one per shoulder. Note in order comments.
