Description: This color gradient took millions of years and one very specific hydrothermal fluid chemistry to produce.

Watermelon tourmaline is a study in crystal growth chemistry. The concentric color zoning — green outer rim transitioning through white to pink core — records the changing trace element environment as the tourmaline crystal grew outward from its central axis. Manganese drives the pink-red core; iron and chromium influence the green cap. The sharp boundary between zones reflects a genuine compositional shift in the hydrothermal fluid from which the crystal precipitated, preserved in solid form for millions of years until a lapidary's saw revealed the cross-section.

At 5.3ct this is a collector-grade specimen — large enough to show the full color transition clearly across the face of the stone. Six 2mm salt and pepper diamonds are flush-set into the 14k yellow gold setting surrounding the tourmaline — natural diamonds with dense inclusion populations producing genuine brilliance around their internal complexity, no two with identical inclusion characters. Their warm presence explains the pendant's characteristic warmth at wearing distance.

Comes with solid 2mm 14k paperclip chain that is 15 inches, two adorable 14k carabiners, and a front 14k lobster clasp. No two watermelon tourmalines zone identically. This color gradient is this stone's alone.
