The Palimpsest Ring
Specs Block: TruSilver (reclaimed) | 5.22g metal | Bicolor Tourmaline 3ct | Dimensions: 4x13mm | Treatment: None | Setting: Reclaimed signet | Sizing: US 9. Not available for resizing — no exceptions
Description: A palimpsest is a manuscript page that has been written over — the old text still visible beneath the new. This reclaimed 3ct bicolor tourmaline set in a hand carved TruSilver signet with a is exactly that.
The tourmaline was oriented deliberately with the crystal's c-axis running along the width of the finger — the direction of tourmaline's growth and the direction along which its color zoning developed. Under magnification prism face growth striae are visible as parallel lines running the full length of the stone, each one a growth increment of the crystal advancing along its c-axis.
⚠️ Condition Disclosure: This piece is set in a reclaimed TruSilver signet mounting. Edge wear at the stone girdle and a partially healed fracture inclusion are visible under magnification. Neither is dominant at normal wearing distance as shown in images. Priced at $350 — reflecting the condition honestly rather than asking you to pay artisan pricing for an imperfect piece. I just really like the color zoning and saturation of this stone. No resizing available. Full condition documentation provided with purchase.
